We all know that history is told from the point of view of the winners. But, the facts always come to light. You cannot and should not shield parts of slavery because it is harsh – no other race does so in telling the stories, so why should we? It is fact and truth, which is why others don’t want to talk about it.

Do any other race NOT talk about their histories [with edits/omissions so that it is comfortable]? I doubt it. You must know what happened if you are expected to truly understand why are still having the issues that divide black people, society and the world at large when it comes to how we see ourselves, how we want to be represented and respected, etc.

People need to know about the Kings & Queens that ruled, how they came to power, lost or was overthrown, how they even sold their enemies or those who challenged their rule into slavery prior to and during their rule to slave auctioneers, etc. You need to know how the European powers carved up the continent of Africa for its natural and mineral resources to make their world & rulers wealthy. You need to learn about the Middle Passage, African Diaspora, European Nations that fought to end Slavery against those people who saw us as property aka CHATTEL, [ you need to know about the white people who were the first abolitionists that saw black people as PEOPLE], and how a new found colony aka the 13 Colonies would become a nation and how we came here – how we endured under the plantation system, the role our ancestors played to make this NATION GREAT.
Encourage them to broaden their horizons to learn about themselves, the world in which we live.

So, you see…a story is not a story without a beginning, a middle and an end. It must be told, then after you have EQUIPPED the children with the much needed knowledge that they need to make an informed decision – it is now up to them to use it appropriately. I will never send them out ill-equipped and ill-advised. The world believes that of them already. Only we know better.
